Walden University 


Brief Background

It was in 1970 when Walden University was established. Two teachers from New York created Walden, Bernie and Rita Turner. The teachers first purpose was to create a program for working adults in order for them to pursue their doctoral degrees. Walden Universities first class took place in Naples, Florida. The Higher Education Coordinating Board licensed Walden University to grant PhD's and Ed.D.s in the state and in 1982, and the school later moved to Minneapolis for their headquarter.


Walden University consists of Five Colleges:

College of Health Sciences
College of Social and Behavioral Sciences
College of Undergraduate Studies

Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Health, Ed.S. (Education Specialist), Ed.D. (Doctor of Education), D.B.A. (Doctor of Business Administration), and Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) degrees in a number of academic fields.
