The ITT Tech was founded in 1946 as Educational Services, Inc. and has been headquartered in Carmel, Indiana, since 1969. From 1965 until its IPO in 1994, ITT Tech was a wholly owned subsidiary of ITT Corporation (as "ITT/ESI"). By 1999, ITT Corp. Brief Background

It was in 1970 when Walden University was established. Two teachers from New York created Walden, Bernie and Rita Turner. The teachers first purpose was to create a program for working adults in order for them to pursue their doctoral degrees. Walden Universities first class took place in Naples, Florida. The Higher Education Coordinating Board licensed Walden University to grant PhD's and Ed.D.s in the state and in 1982, and the school later moved to Minneapolis for their headquarter.
